Hey Guys, now this is unusual one for me, as I have made an animated video based on a game. The producers of Life is Strange, Square Enix, are well known for Tomb Raider and Hitman. I have seen one and played the other, I'll let you guess which one! They have extensive experience on graphics, design, plot and character development.
Life is Strange (LiS) is considered a episodic graphic adventure, which is something rather new and quite interesting. The plot is based around Max Caulfield, a photography major in Arcadia Bay and the game is entirely third person. Somehow, Max is given the ability to see visions of doomed Arcadia Bay and rewind time. Pretty cool right? But remember this rated Mature game.
You know why? because in many choice games or games in general, you can save the majority of people and be able to get everybody to like you. I am an avid ESO and Skyrim player, which means I could get every quest done in a certain order. However, this is major spoiler for the game, you can not get everyone to like you and you can also not save everyone. It is a harsh dose of reality but, it doesn't stop you from playing and enjoying the game.
I believe this is why Life is Strange is so popular, it was something you could just hack and complete the game. You follow and influence Max's life and you can fall or pity or even come to hate characters within the game. The final decision becomes so hard, and you simply want to cry as you have become attached to the characters.
I will warn you, there is seriously scary underbelly to this game, its not carefree and definitely for those who can not the fear factor, this isn't the type of game you want to play.
Now, a little rant from me, the graphics, how has the developers of Hitman and Tomb Raiders made such a shitty looking game? They seemed to have put all the energy into the plot, character development, music and even design of the town. Yet when you look at characters, I believe there could of been better edge smoothing and emotion added to the faces. When they were crying, it actually looked like they were sweating profusely instead. It frustrated me as it did stop the immersive experience.
Outside the intensely scary parts, (as I am total scaredy-cat) I absolutely LOVED this game, and it really makes you think about the basis of the game. The butterfly effect, how one decision an snowball into other decisions, it kinda make you think about what you say and opens your eyes to how you act towards others could really affect their lives at a later time. You can choose to save the person who you believe to be an enemy, or save a life of a tortured soul.
I will mention the missing girl, Rachel, you never get to meet her but she is a big influence on the story. Hence the announcement of a prequel being made where yo find what Rachel is actually like. I am looking forward to it,
